PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center supports and participates in many
local activities that continue our healing mission of providing community
health. Here’s a sampling of some recent and upcoming activities. Visit

to learn more.
More parking.
Our new west parking lot has
79 parking stalls available for patients and visitors.
The new lot offers quick, convenient access to
PeaceHealth Medical Group clinics and the new
Lakefront clinic.
More hospitalists.
Hospitalists are medical
providers who dedicate their time to seeing patients while they are recovering in
the hospital. These specialists will open up additional time for patient appoint-
ments with PeaceHealth Medical Group. (Meet our newest hospitalist, Kristina
Unterseher, ARNP, on page 9.)
PatientConnection.
We continue to add new services to this online tool,
which lets PeaceHealth patients make online appointments, view lab results,
pay their bills and email their providers—all from an easy-to-use, secure,
password-protected web site. To learn more, go to
www.peacehealth.org
and click on the PatientConnection box under “Quick Start Tools” for a
demo or to sign up.
Joint Replacement Center.
The Joint Replacement Center hosted its
second reunion luncheon for patients who have been through the program.
During the luncheon, physical therapists measured range of motion to
track success of joint replacement patients. Medical Director William
Turner, MD, was on hand to speak with patients and answer questions.
The Joint Replacement Center, located at PeaceHealth St. John Medi-
cal Center, recently celebrated its first anniversary. It has served nearly
500 patients since it opened last spring. (See related story on page 6.)
Community volunteer fair.
Fifteen agencies and over 60 PeaceHealth
caregivers signed up to volunteer and
give additional service to our commu-
nity. PeaceHealth caregivers contrib-
ute thousands of hours and resources
each year to improve healthy living in
our community, including the Cowlitz
Free Medical Clinic.
Improving YOU 101.
PeaceHealth
St. John offers many classes and events to help you improve YOU.
We continue to add resources and partner with others to make these
available to everyone. Our projects include a partnership with the city
on their parks and recreation guide, monthly wellness ad, Facebook, a
quarterly newsletter, direct mail, and various events in our community.
We also offer convenient wellness programs to our caregivers, making

A season of hope
Spring is in the air—
and with it, renewal
and hope.
In health care,
we try to bring
renewal and hope
to our patients and
community every
day. Our caregiv-
ers recently shared some great ideas for
improving the patient experience through
a program honoring the memory and
passion of our beloved Sister Catherine
McInnes. Ideas came out of our caregivers’
desire to improve areas they serve in—from
neonatal blankets to creating a space for pal-
liative care patients. We are looking for ways
to implement as many as we can.
Our caregivers, such as those recognized
for service excellence on the next page, are
doing extraordinary work. We feel it’s important
to share their stories and encourage our care-
givers that their tireless commitment to quality of
care isn’t taken for granted. If you’ve experienced
an extraordinary act of care at PeaceHealth St.
John, please let us know. Send a letter, or e-mail
sjmc@peacehealth.org.
Many of our caregivers also serve by volun-
teering. At our January community volunteer fair,
representing 15 agencies, more than 60 caregiv-
ers signed up to give time to these worthy causes.
We’re also working closely with Pathways 2020 and
others to improve our community health report card.
For community health, improving access to
care continues to be a priority. We’re doing this by
recruiting additional hospitalists. We hope the new
79-space parking lot on the west side of the hospital
will also make access easier for patients.
We all need to experience the positive power of
hope and renewal, especially when we’re healing.
At PeaceHealth St. John, we continue to look for
ways to bring hope and renewal to our patients
and our community.
